Saitama—The One Punch Man

Saitama (One Punch Man) is the main character of the manga series. He is illustrated as the strongest being in the story. However, Saitama struggles with a self-imposed existential crisis, as he has become so powerful that he does not feel any excitement in the fights.

Initially he was a hero for fun, but after recognizing that no one acknowledges his power, he decided to join the hero association to become more powerful. He takes the duty of safeguarding his hometown, Z-city, from threats and villains.

Basic Profile:

Saitama is a 25-year-old bald man of average height with brown eyes, living in Z-city before joining the Hero Association HQ in A-city as Rank 39 in A-Class. Within the hero association, Saitama is given the hero name ‘Caped Baldy.‘ Saitama is now living in apartment 104.

Backstory:

In the three-year flashback, Saitama was going home from a job interview and encountered a crab-like monster called Crablante. The monster let Saitama go but told him that he is searching for a ball-chinned child. After a while, Saitama found the child and saved him by defeating the creature. That was the moment when Saitama awakened his sense of heroism.

Three Years of Training:

After a fight with Crablante, Saitama started to gain superhuman abilities through a strict routine: 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a daily 10 km run—every day for three years, with a disciplined diet and no air conditioning or heating. This intense routine resulted in the loss of his hair and the birth of his extraordinary strength.

Appearance:

Saitama is a bald man of average height with brown eyes and a lean but fit body. His bald head is the most noticeable feature. He usually wears his iconic yellow jumpsuit with red gloves and boots and a black belt with a golden-colored buckle on it.

Saitama is drawn in different appearances depending on the scenes; like in normal scenes, he is drawn with a simple round head with basic facial features and more cartoon-like expressions. While in serious situations, his face looks sharper, his eyes look intense, and his muscles are drawn with more detail.

Personality:

On the surface, Saitama appears to be an ordinary being. At the first glance, no one can notice his remarkable achievements. Before joining the hero association, he was a regular salaried office worker who was frustrated with his life. But he always dreamt of becoming a hero.

After training himself hard for three years, Saitama gained overwhelming power. He was so powerful that he could defeat any enemy with a single punch. His power drained all excitement from the fights, making him bored.

Outside of fights, Saitama is lazy and unmotivated. He enjoys playing video games, bargain shopping, and manga. He does not care about what people say about him—unless it’s about his bald head.

Saitama is smarter than he looks. He can read people and situations quickly. He can also see through lies or fake kindness. His words can be blunt, but he never uses his power for evil.

Even though Saitama feels bored due to his unmatched power, he remains driven by one simple belief: ‘If heroes run and hide, who will stand and fight?’

Strengths and Abilities:

Saitama is the strongest and titular character of the series ‘One Punch Man.’ He defeats nearly all his enemies with a single punch, no matter how strong they are. His strength, speed, and durability are unmatched. He has never been seriously injured in any fight.

Main Powers:

He can destroy monsters, meteors, and even parts of planets with ease. His punches are so powerful that the shockwaves can part clouds across the entire planet. He moves faster than the eye can see. Saitama can race across space in seconds.

He can jump from the moon to Earth or leap across planets. Saitama never gets tired or hurt, even after intense fights. Though he’s a simple brawler, he can instantly learn and mimic complex moves.
